Going abroad after graduating from high school – the dream of many graduates. Some go "out into the world," like Philipp Walter. The author was drawn far to the south of Africa to Namibia, driven by social commitment but also to further develop himself. Just before his departure, he decided to blog about his year in Namibia. This book is based on the blog posts that resulted. He writes about his experiences, life, and work in Okakarara, a small town in the northern part of Namibia. Readers will not encounter the usual image of Namibia characterized by desert, poverty, and AIDS in this book, but rather a perspective that deviates from typical reports on a wonderful country and its people. Each chapter describes the author's own, very personal viewpoint on Namibia, without losing sight of the reality of everyday life in Namibia.
