German driving sport enjoys a high international reputation, not only due to a multitude of successes in all disciplines of driving sport, but above all because of the dissemination and practical application of a logically structured training system for drivers and driving horses. As a result of many studies, especially by the English driving instructor Howlett, the driving system put together by Benno von Achenbach found official recognition in 1922. Since then, the Achenbach system has been binding for German driving sport to this day. In the industrialized countries the horse has become completely meaningless as a labour force, in the sporting sector and as a hobby it experiences a flowering that was hardly thought possible. The sporty driving is cultivated at numerous national and international events. Most leisure drivers and also the future sport drivers are not in the same.
