Richtig schreiben – Spass mit Trolli, 4. Schuljahr

The workbook for the 4th school year shows the pupils strategies in 20 learning units with the help of which they can counter spelling problems. Errors are not presented as deficits, but are an indication of further learning steps. The enclosed booklet with working texts enables them to consciously perceive their learning progress and to develop confidence in their performance. The strategies enable the children to write foreign words correctly. They think about the spelling of the words and eventually recognise independently which strategy to use. Examples: - The final sound is made audible by lengthening the word. - When forming plurals, the singular has to be inferred in order to recognise whether the word has to be written with an umlaut. - Word families have the same root and suggest the spelling of the words in a word family. In the working texts, the children have to use the strategies that were shown to them in the unit they worked on before. The children themselves choose one of the three working texts of varying difficulty per unit. In this way, the child builds up an increasingly self-responsible attitude and learns to reflect on mistakes (with the help of the workbook) and to correct them (with the help of the strategies). Only at the end is the corrected work text given to the teacher for final review. The solution section in the back of the workbook also offers students the opportunity for self-monitoring.
