Product details
The fundamental idea of Ubiquitous Computing – to let technology recede into the background in order to support people completely subconsciously in their activities – is addressed and implemented in this book. First, the technical foundations of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) are explained to establish a basis for its application. This wireless technology fits perfectly into the conceptual model of Ubiquitous Computing due to its practicality: data can be read and stored on so-called transponders without contact and without line of sight. A detailed presentation of the Ubiquitous Computing Framework will then provide an overview of its potential applications. Concepts are discussed and compared to generate a network of interacting technological solutions that processes inputs internally and unobtrusively supports people and their environment with the corresponding outputs. Finally, the application TalkingPoints is used to demonstrate how RFID technology can be utilized to develop an application for exhibitions and trade shows.
