Product details

The specialized book "Reverse Imagining Vienna" offers an in-depth exploration of the relationship between human materials and the environment. In an interdisciplinary approach, two sculptors and nine writers have chosen a historic Viennese Gründerzeit house and a highway bridge over the Danube as starting points to develop new perspectives on sustainable interactions with inanimate matter. The first volume contains eight short prose texts that address these objects within four different visions of the future. The second volume contextualizes these moments within the framework of the Anthropocene and discusses the urban planning aspects that are significant for Vienna. Additionally, the key anthropogenic materials are examined from both historical and environmental perspectives. The sculptures created through the artistic-scientific process are described in detail and complemented by numerous images from the exhibition at the AIL in Otto Wagner's Postsparkasse.
