The topic of resilience and the promotion of protective factors has gained increasing importance in the human and health sciences in recent years, associated with the paradigm shift from a deficit-oriented to a resource-oriented approach, as well as from pathogenesis to salutogenesis. Resilience and resilience promotion are not limited to specific age groups but are a cross-cutting theme throughout the entire lifespan. This book specifically relates the concept of resilience to different developmental stages: the significance of resilience and corresponding support opportunities are presented for early and later childhood, adolescence, as well as adulthood and old age.
