Humans are naturally religious beings. This means that religion did not come to Nigeria or Africa with foreigners. It has always existed and has been part of African people and systems. Foreigners brought Islam and Christianity to Nigeria, and both religions have caused many changes in the Nigerian people and way of life. Early Nigerians who practiced traditional African religion had little to no religiously motivated violence compared to later Nigerians after the arrival of Islam and Christianity. This book examines the causes of these changes and identifies the needs, interests, and methods underlying them. The changes also led to shifts in patterns of violence, which were identified and studied within the framework of the research.
