Ebtisam Ramadan presents the complexity of religious educational relationships in early childhood education against the backdrop of the democratic, pluralistic German migration society in her research work. She examines an Islamic and a Protestant daycare center, demonstrating that both institutions utilize their microcosmic action competence. The Protestant institution draws on a clientele that is interreligious and internationally ethnically and culturally diverse, partly due to its character of tolerance, while the Islamic institution primarily bases its diversity on national, ethnic, and cultural affiliation. The legitimacy of the religious positioning also arises from the implication of a conscious engagement with this difference.
