Product details
Costa Rica is the natural paradise of Central America. Of course, there are stunningly beautiful beaches, but the numerous private and state national parks with their rich diversity of flora and fauna are the biggest attraction of this small country situated between the Pacific and the Caribbean. The infrastructure is excellent; in most parks, you can hike on your own, although you usually see more with a knowledgeable guide. In Costa Rica, various types of landscapes are in close proximity: the diversity ranges from coral reefs to densely forested jungles, from lava-spewing volcanoes to bird paradises in wetlands, and from nearly 4,000-meter-high mountains.
But Costa Rica is also a paradise for active vacationers: hiking, horseback riding, cycling, kayaking, rafting, canopy (zipline tours), surfing – the list is endless. After visiting an active volcano, you can head to the beach to observe sea turtles – what more could you want? Traveling in Costa Rica is not cheap, but it is quite hassle-free. Whether by bus, rental car, or bicycle – there are many ways to explore the country. The fact that Costa Rica is a modern and politically very stable country makes traveling even more enjoyable. Even with limited Spanish skills, you quickly meet people whose positive way of life is incredibly appealing.
The travel guide contains tried-and-true practical tips on travel questions from A to Z. In the extended preface, there are overview pages with a yearly calendar of festivals and events, suggested itineraries, and the author's personal top tips. Many specific pieces of information, such as travel advice and the diverse range of activities, are helpful planning aids. Excursions into history, the land, and its people provide readers with many more interesting insights into island life.
