"What do I get out of it?" Those who have utilized a social service should be allowed to ask themselves what, from their perspective, helped them during the life crisis they just faced: Why the mother-child home was exactly the right place. Why the youth center is such a good point of contact. Why one would not want to miss the conversations with the counselor after receiving numerous job rejections. The opinions of those affected may, but do not have to, align with those of the social worker. The question of the benefits of social services from the perspective of the recipients still represents a terra incognita in scientific discussions. Practitioners of social work work with experiential knowledge, but could enhance the debate on effectiveness and quality with established scientific findings, particularly from the perspective of the users.
