Reinhard Michl - Aus den Skizzenbüchern 1975-2022

For almost 50 years Reinhard Michl has made sure that he always has a sketchbook to hand. When a book is at hand, every moment, every thought can be captured in a sketch or drawing. The fleetingness of the moment is often at the back of his neck when drawing, but this also promotes a concentration that is otherwise rarely attainable. In a sense, he wants to capture life. And sometimes the hand knows more than the head. The immediacy with which spontaneous thinking is realised here is nowhere as radical as in the free sketch. Drawing also means bringing an idea into the world. All this is optimally preserved in the sketchbooks. The fact that an artist opens up this private fund is a rare stroke of luck for the viewer.
