Reiner Gro. Aus Sachsens Vergangenheit

Frank-Lothar Kroll presents in this volume selected contributions from the works of Reiner Gross. Gross held the chair of Regional History of Saxony at the Technical University of Chemnitz from 1994 to 2002 and is now considered one of the leading representatives of Saxon regional historical research. The publications are thematically divided into eight focal points: Saxony and the Albertine Wettins, constitutional and administrative history, state and church, agrarian history, Saxony's relations with other states, revolutionary unrest, biographical and archival studies. Gross's research approach encompasses both biographical studies of historical actors and guild colleagues, as well as a wide range of thematic investigations. He analyzes the changes in constitution and society since the Reformation, explores inter-territorial relations with Bavaria and Kurbrandenburg, as well as the Saxon-Polish Union, and focuses on the development of the manorial estates and agriculture in Electoral Saxony up to the agrarian reform in the 19th century, with a particular emphasis on the urban development of Saxony, especially in Dresden and Zwickau.
