Product details
With his cyclical play, Arthur Schnitzler (1862-1931) undermined the foundations of moral convention. Five men and five women form ten changing pairs: In this erotic power game, the boundaries of bourgeois society blur. Desire and seduction dictate the rules of this game, and social hierarchies dissolve. After violent disturbances at some performances of the play, Schnitzler banned any further productions in 1921. It wasn't until 1982 that his play returned to the stage. This scandalous comedy, first published as a book in 1903, continues to captivate audiences today with its masterful dialogues and unflinching exposure of repressed desire and societal hypocrisy.
