Lucho is 14 and lives with his family far from his Chilean homeland in exile in Berlin. He has to find his way in the new country, enjoys playing soccer, has his first experiences with girls, and gets into fights with boys. While he and his family advocate for Chile, the real struggles take place in his personal development. Antonio Skármeta, who lived in Berlin after the military coup of 1973 and served as his country's ambassador to Germany from 2000 to 2003, has incorporated his own experiences into this short novel. This is an unabridged and unedited text edition in the original language, with translations of difficult words at the bottom of each page, an afterword, and literary references.
