This study edition of Lessing's famous key work of German comedy literature consistently implements the text-critical and book-analytical research findings of recent decades. It finally replaces the text version of the still unique historical-critical Lessing edition by Karl Lachmann, edited by Franz Muncker in 1886, and documents Lessing's comedy in a historically authentic form.
