Product details
"Your son will kill you." After this prophecy, King Laius did the only thing he could do: he ordered his son Oedipus to be killed. At least he thought that the murder had actually been carried out. The Athenian audience, however, knew that this was not the case when they saw Sophocles' dramatic adaptation of this myth in the theater in 425 BC. Even today, nearly 2,500 years later, the text is still frequently read in both German and Greek classes and studies.
