Who knows how spelling and spelling learning work can think more specifically about teaching methods. This book combines fundamental knowledge about spelling with practical suggestions. It contains the basics of spelling and spelling instruction: A model describes what it means for an adult to be able to spell. Following that, new insights into the acquisition of this skill (from preschool to grade 10) are presented. The basic rules of orthography, as far as they are significant for school, are presented with many clear visual aids. Comments explain the linguistic backgrounds of the rules. Additionally, a concept for spelling instruction (grades 1 to 10) is introduced, which is based on the abilities and implicit knowledge of the learners and provokes exploration: Ability - Teaching - Learning.
