Rebellion

"Rebellion is the spark that seeks the powder keg". "Rebellion" tells the story of one night. A rented flat, a man in a TV armchair, alone, unemployed since birth, someone who has failed the great social experiment of his life. From above, below, to the side, the disturbing noises of the neighbours, those "hell dwellers" with whom one is in contact with the enemy, if at all. Squatting between noisy apparatuses that continuously convey fragments of alleged topicality to him, he looks sometimes into the bottle, sometimes into the television, sometimes out of the window onto the street, and Algiers, Cairo, Berlin merge into a single memory and adventure course. Jochen Beyse imagines the Arabellion as a first-person shooter scenario and the Saturday night at home as a grotesque revolt against the ghosts of a media world. Deadly funny and deeply sad, crystalline and gripping.
