Product details
The artist Rebecca Horn sees herself as an inventor, director, author, composer, poet, but above all as a choreographer. She utilizes the idea of incorporation and creates symbols of technical and bodily networking: from her early paper works in the 1960s and the early performances and films of the 1970s to the mechanical sculptures since the 1980s and the space-filling installations since the 1990s. Horn repeatedly employs the language of dance as a medium and catalyst for her choreographic fictions. The catalog presents a selection of her works from six decades, including installation photographs of her exhibited artworks and unpublished historical imagery. Rebecca Horn, born in 1944, is among the most significant contemporary artists internationally with her transdisciplinary work. She has participated in numerous editions of documenta, the Venice Biennale, the Sydney Biennale, the Tokyo Biennale, the São Paulo Biennale, and Carnegie International. Hendrik Folkerts is a curator for international contemporary art and exhibition director at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. Jack Halberstam is the director of the Institute for Research on Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Columbia University. Jana Baumann is a senior curator at Haus der Kunst in Munich. Nancy Spector is a curator who has held positions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and at the Brooklyn Museum. Timothy Baum, an expert in Dada and Surrealism, was a companion and performer in Rebecca Horn's film works.
