Doris Rübel studied art education and subsequently worked as a teacher at high schools in Hamburg. In over twenty years as a freelance illustrator, she has designed and written children's books, picture books, non-fiction books, and games. Her first book was published by Ravensburger Book Publishing in 1990; since 1998, she has been one of the main illustrators and authors of the successful series "Wieso? Weshalb? Warum?". Her titles "Where Do Little Children Come From?", "We Discover Our Bodies," and "A Visit to the Pediatrician" are among the bestsellers of the series.
