Henning Löhlein, born in 1965, grew up in Bonn and then studied art and design in southern France for three years. Through a student exchange program, he came to England, where he discovered illustration. He was so taken with the lifestyle and humor of the English that he still lives in Bristol with his two children today.

After his studies, he worked for numerous English and German newspapers and magazines, including The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Times, Hörzu, Die Welt, and Börse Online. During this time, he continued to develop his animal characters, such as his Dax for "Börse Online," who experienced the ups and downs of the stock market. These characters wanted more space, and for several years now, Henning Löhlein has been illustrating books, not just for children.
