An excerpt from "Horse Whisperer Academy, Volume 4: Betrayed Trust" by Gina Mayer:

Zoe gave Cathy a few minutes' head start, then she took off as well to catch up with Shaman. When she arrived at the saddling area, Cathy was already done with her gelding. She swung herself into the saddle and trotted off without even acknowledging Zoe. Zoe waited until the chestnut gelding had disappeared among the trees, then she rode after him.

In the woods, she initially feared that the distance between them was too great and that she had lost Cathy. But suddenly she spotted Cathy's pink hair peeking out from under her riding helmet. It flickered like a distant fire through the trees. Zoe couldn't have said why she was following Cathy or what she hoped to gain from it. The chance that Cathy would meet a stranger in the woods was virtually nonexistent. Her secrets were in her mind, and there they would stay, no matter how long Zoe galloped after her. Nevertheless, she did not give up the chase.

Now Cathy left the path and guided Summer between two trees towards a small creek. Zoe followed her without hesitation, and as she veered off the trail, it happened.
