Ratgeber ADHS bei Erwachsenen

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is not a fashionable disease, as is often reported in the media. The disease has always existed. It begins in childhood and adolescence and persists in about 50% of those affected even in adulthood. ADHD in adulthood is often not recognised or diagnosed much too late, which can lead to a high level of suffering for those affected, to a chronification of the disorder and thus to many impairments in the professional and personal sphere as well as to a significant loss of quality of life.
The guide describes how ADHD manifests itself in adults, how the core symptoms of ADHD develop and what options are available for diagnosis, psychotherapeutic and drug treatment. The emphasis of the councellor lies on giving concerning as much as possible self-help strategies for handling the Symptomatik and the problems resulting from it to the hand, so that they get even more control over their ADHS. The appendix also contains a service section on books, websites and organisations that provide further information, e.g. on treatment facilities in the vicinity of the place of residence.
