Product details

Since the 1920s, the themes of rockets and space travel have established themselves worldwide as a projection surface for technical and social utopias. The weapon system of the ballistic long-range missile was among the military developments of the Third Reich during World War II. This work examines new forms of research organization that emerged in Germany during the course of rocket development up to 1945. The interdisciplinary nature of rocket technology allows for an inquiry into the networking of the military, university research institutions, and business enterprises. Finally, a comparison reveals which organizational forms of rocket technology emerged in the Soviet Union and the USA—countries that engaged in the most intensive transfer of German armament technology after the end of World War II.
