Martin Tschanz was born in Bern. He studied architecture at ETH Zurich, where he later taught theory and history of architecture. Today, he is a professor at HTW in Chur. From 1992 to 1997, he was the editor of the magazine "archithese," a role he currently holds for "Werk, Bauen und Wohnen." He curated the exhibition "Architecture in the 20th Century: Switzerland" for the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt.
