This book discusses the fundamental assumptions underlying both the quantitative and qualitative research approaches. It contrasts a materialistic-deterministic worldview and understanding of humanity (quantitative research) with a humanistic view of humanity in conjunction with the epistemological position of radical constructivism (qualitative research). The discussion is rounded off with considerations on the problem of free will and the collapse of the worldview of classical physics.
