The new Pusteblume non-fiction books optimally cover the competencies and learning areas of the curriculum for local history and science in Thuringia. The topics of the textbooks are divided into four color-coded chapters, corresponding to the four learning areas of the Thuringian curriculum for local history and geography. The new textbooks offer competence-oriented tasks, working methods, and action sections in accordance with the curriculum. Children acquire basic knowledge through systematic learning steps. The methods workshop in textbooks 1 to 4 teaches children basic skills and abilities, helping them to acquire methodological competence and learn increasingly independently.

All chapters begin with an introductory page that provides an overview of the essential content, giving children impulses to engage with the learning area and develop a questioning attitude. Each chapter ends with a learning test for children to check their understanding. The "By the way" section offers food for thought to explore special aspects of the respective subject. A small, tried-and-tested computer course is integrated into textbooks 2, 3, and 4 to teach basic computer skills. The accompanying material includes workbooks that support the learning processes in many ways and are perfectly coordinated with the new non-fiction books. The solutions and notes assist lesson preparation with short, practice-oriented notes on teaching and provide solutions to all tasks in the textbook and workbook. The copy templates contain a large selection of differentiated worksheets, with solutions offered in the form of fully completed worksheets. The learning software, featuring an extensive range of learning and games, is available as a download, CD-ROM (single-user licenses), and as a network license.
