Pummerer. 100 komische Gedichte

Not born in 1603, but on 10 March 2021, the writer Otto Heinrich Kühner would be 100 years old. Various undertakings commemorate and honour the author to mark the anniversary. "Pummerer. 100 comic poems" A volume of 100 comic poems by Otto Heinrich Kühner entitled "Pummerer" has just been published by Jenior-Verlag in Kassel to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. The Pummerer verses unfold a whimsical and witty, sometimes dark, but mostly cheerful way of thinking and speaking. The disturbing, the crazy and the all-too-human are reflected in the humour: "He rhymes things that don't rhyme in life," says Christine Brückner, the author's colleague and wife. The selection, divided into seven chapters, is illustrated with drawings by caricaturist Gerhard Glück and edited and provided with an afterword by Friedrich W. Block: "The lyrical artistic figure of the 'Pummerer' is a relative of Palmström, Korf, Kuttel Daddeldu, Dr Enzian, Gugummer. It is thus part of a tradition of modern comic poetry that began with Heinrich Heine and, as Robert Gernhardt has repeatedly emphasised, is internationally unique."
