Children, adolescents, and even professionals unconsciously bring numerous behavioral patterns with a biographical background into everyday educational practice. This fact has implications on the relational level (sympathy or antipathy). The resulting interpersonal expectations (schemas) are perceptually distorted. Nevertheless, they influence the educational mandate and teamwork within the faculty. Ignorance of these phenomena is the norm in social pedagogy and educational institutions. The reason: We educators remain untrained regarding recent neuropsychological and psychotherapeutic findings. Schema pedagogy aims to bridge this gap in professional competence. To promote self, social, and professional skills, the focus is placed on typical schemas of professionals and the associated aspects of the self.
