Psychologie und Pädagogik

The textbook "Psychology and Pedagogy" provides students in vocational upper secondary education (BG, FOS, BOS) with an introduction to social scientific thinking and action—grounded in subject knowledge and taking into account the learners' life contexts. The aim is to equip young people and young adults with the foundational knowledge, skills, and competencies they need for further studies or training in this diverse field.

The chapters are written in a way that allows them to be read or worked on independently. This gives students an easily comprehensible overview of each topic. All subject-related content is presented in a way that enables learners to work independently and purposefully with the book. Action-oriented tasks promote their competencies, initiative, and teamwork skills.

The connection to real-life contexts and the action-oriented approach of the textbook are reflected in the diverse methods of knowledge and competency transfer. This includes original texts (excerpts), partner and group work, role plays, experiments, research, discussions, observations, projects, analyses, case studies, and examples from everyday life.

New in the 2nd edition:

The illustrations throughout the work—photos, diagrams, graphics—have been reviewed for their relevance and replaced if necessary. Texts and case studies have been updated. In the course of these text updates, gender-sensitive language has been consistently applied. A new chapter on the fundamental principles of systemic work has been added.

The work reflects the intersection of the current curricula valid in the individual federal states, allowing all educators to tailor their teaching based on this foundation. Additionally, the textbook includes a comprehensive chapter on gerontology.
