Or does society have to open up and approach these people? This bachelor thesis examines how the concept of Kwartiermaken can help mentally ill adults to participate fully. During her work at the psychosocial centre, the author realised that people with mental illness are confronted with mechanisms of exclusion on a daily basis. During the practical phase and the familiarisation with this subject area, she increasingly asked herself the question: Should it be the goal of psychosocial care to adapt people with psychiatric experience to social systems so that they are allowed to participate in society? Shouldn't the goal be to create an opening society where every person has a place in the middle? How do you create space for the otherness of the other? In the sense of: You are welcome, even if you are different! How did the current situation of exclusion come about? What is the legal framework for participation? How is it feasible for citizens to open up to the stranger? What is the concept of Kwartiermaken and how can it be implemented? What is friendship and what functions does it have? What are "psycho-sponsorships" and friendship service? Can friendship be planned? And what role does the profession of social work play in this context? And very centrally: How can psycho-sponsorship succeed on the basis of the concept of Kwartiermaken?..
