The discussion in organizational theory and practice repeatedly revolves around the thesis that the organization of companies should align more closely with their business processes. Through a cross-industry focus group study, Thomas Liebert analyzes the state of process orientation in German industrial companies. Building on this, the often-proclaimed positive impact of process orientation on the organizational efficiency of companies is examined. The results of the quantitative study are illustrated and objectified through two specific company case studies.
