Progress in Industrial Mathematics at ECMI 2018

The book "Progress in Industrial Mathematics at ECMI 2018" offers a comprehensive insight into the application of mathematics in various industrial sectors. It gathers 81 contributions presented at the 20th European Conference on Mathematics in Industry (ECMI 2018), which took place in June 2018 in Budapest. The topics covered range from electronics to energy and the environment, as well as mechanics and mechatronics. The diversity of application areas includes, among others, applied physics, biology and medicine, cybersecurity, data science, economics, finance and insurance, as well as social challenges and transportation systems. The mathematical technologies discussed in the contributions are equally varied and include combinatorial optimization, machine learning, and stochastic processes. The aim of the ECMI conferences is to promote the exchange between science and industry and to develop innovative solutions for complex problems.
