Professor Donda makes an astonishing discovery: Stored information has a measurable weight! What matters is not the quantity, but the density of the information. And comparable to the dangerous concentration of uranium, there is also a "critical" mass of information. When this critical mass of data is reached, the consequences are catastrophic: all computers in the world self-destruct. Stanisław Lem's works have been widely distributed and read millions of times in the German-speaking world. His humorously fantastical master narrative "Professor A. Donda," published in German in 1978 in the "Star Diaries," is now appearing for the first time illustrated and as a standalone publication in the Insel-Bücherei. This edition emerged from an illustration competition in the book design and illustration class at the University of the Arts in Berlin, led by Henning Wagenbreth. We showcase the award-winning drawings by Benjamin Courtault, along with numerous illustrations by him and a postscript by Matthias Reiner.
