Productive Ageing!

This work addresses the question of what expectations employees aged 50 and over have regarding the topic of productive aging, and what measures a company must take to retain older employees for a longer period. Vienna International Airport AG, an important and representative company in eastern Austria with a total of 4,399 employees, serves as an example. The company already implements health-promoting measures and part-time retirement models but has not yet developed a comprehensive concept for productive aging. As part of an empirical study, employees aged 50 and over were surveyed about their expectations for this work. The theoretical approach considers Antonovsky's salutogenesis model. Unlike pathogenesis, which describes the factors that cause illness, the salutogenesis model focuses on what keeps people healthy despite various stressors. The result is the concept of sense of coherence, which consists of three components: comprehensibility, manageability, and meaningfulness.
