Laser beam cladding (LA) is one of the most important additive manufacturing processes in metalworking. It is particularly used in turbomachinery and aerospace for processing high-performance materials such as nickel-based alloy Inconel 718 (IN718). Previous work on LA of IN718 has predominantly been conducted at deposition rates below 0.5 kg/h. The aim of this study is to increase the deposition rate to over 5 kg/h while meeting AMS specifications.
