In recent years, the Psalms have been rediscovered in Christian churches. Vernacular psalmody is gaining ground in both the Catholic and Protestant spheres: it is used in both the "Gotteslob" and in many regional sections of the Protestant hymnal. "Preisungen" is the only resource for responsorial psalmody based on Gregorian chant and is used in many congregations for singing the Psalms. In a simple way, the Psalm texts are made usable again as songs. By responding to the texts with a consistent refrain, the texts can be meditated upon more deeply.
