With the reform of the Psychotherapy Guideline of 2017 and the further reform steps since then, the framework conditions for outpatient psychotherapeutic care as a SHI benefit have fundamentally changed. The range of care on offer has been considerably expanded and the processes have been made less bureaucratic. Group psychotherapy is being particularly promoted with several measures, such as the introduction of "group psychotherapeutic basic care". Systemic therapy has been added as a new guideline procedure. The practical handbook explains all regulations of the Psychotherapy Guidelines and the Psychotherapy Agreement in a comprehensible way. New in this 3rd edition is a chapter on the billing of services that can be provided within the framework of the Psychotherapy Guidelines. The book's claim to provide therapists and employees of the health insurance funds with well-founded instructions for practical work is also fulfilled by the supplementary billing information and the explanations of the extended prescription options for psychological psychotherapists and child and youth psychotherapists. New additions are the prescription of occupational therapy and psychiatric home nursing. Also new is the possibility for all physicians and psychotherapists to prescribe digital health applications. As representatives of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the authors played a significant role in advising on the reform and the changes.
