With the reform of the psychotherapy guidelines in 2017 and subsequent reform steps, the framework conditions for outpatient psychotherapeutic care as a service of statutory health insurance (GKV) have fundamentally changed. The range of services has been significantly expanded, and processes have been streamlined. Several measures particularly promote group psychotherapy, such as the introduction of a "basic provision for group psychotherapy." Systemic therapy has been added as a new guideline procedure. The practice manual explains all regulations of the psychotherapy guidelines and the psychotherapy agreement in an understandable manner. New in this third edition is a chapter on billing for services that can be provided under the psychotherapy guidelines. The book aims to provide well-founded practical instructions for both treating therapists and employees of health insurance companies, which is also reflected in the supplementary billing notes and explanations regarding the expanded prescription options for psychological psychotherapists and child and adolescent psychotherapists. New additions include the prescription of occupational therapy and psychiatric home nursing. Also new for all doctors and psychotherapists is the option to prescribe digital health applications. The authors, as representatives of the umbrella association of statutory health insurance and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, played a significant role in advising on the reform and the changes.
