Product details
There are many books on the market that explain why we should stop producing and eating meat. This book, on the other hand, explains why we will stop producing and eating meat, and what changes this will bring to agriculture.
Animal rights activists often refer to the abolition of slavery and point out the many parallels to the liberation of farm animals. Unfortunately, they do not explain why slavery was abolished in every country in the world between 1833 and 1987, while animal production has not been abolished in any country, and global meat consumption continues to grow. Therefore, it is necessary to explain why the discomfort that more and more consumers feel regarding what some call the value chain and others the killing machinery has not led to a paradigm shift. Additionally, it is important to understand why the conditions are currently being created for this to change.
Thus, "Post-Lethal Agriculture" fills the gap between animal ethics discussions and the abundance of "value-free" agricultural and environmental science literature on the dynamics and impacts of meat consumption. The book illustrates which ethical and ecological problems will inevitably lead to a transformation of agriculture—most likely to an agriculture where the killing of animals will no longer be a part.
