Named after the Via del Portico d'Ottavia, the main street of the ancient Jewish community in Rome, Portico showcases the culinary art of three different groups: the Italkim, whose roots in the city predate the Empire, the Sephardim, whose ancestors were expelled from medieval Spain, and the Libyan Jews, who have lived here since the late 1960s. The book contains over 100 delicious recipes and beautiful photos of the Jewish community in Rome, the oldest in Europe. Leah Koenig spent months in Rome researching for this book.
