Polar
German, Albert Ostermaier, 2006Product details
Polar is a tribute to French cinema of the sixties and seventies. Albert Ostermaier immerses the world in a cold light through his poetry, giving people, relationships, and things sharp, icy contours. However, the "cool" French cinema, despite its sharpness, has always dealt with longing and how feelings blur what is clearly visible. The French coined the term film noir to describe a certain mood in Hollywood during the war and post-war years, transforming the darkness of their shadowy influences into different color temperatures, into a bluish light that harmonizes with the gray Parisian rooftops. All their films have been defined less by narrative patterns than by their atmosphere. Albert Ostermaier's poems tell of what these films and their stories do to us, how they continue to resonate within us, and what A.
