Playing theater as aesthetic education

Beyond the various instrumentalizations that understand theater acting as a means of moral and/or political education, as a method for conveying diverse skills and content, the concept of aesthetic education focuses on the unique materiality of theater and the specific modes of experience that acting offers to the participants. It draws on a phenomenology of the artistic creation process, as found in the theories of acting by artists. The categories of "between" and "experience of difference" prove to be constructive for describing the process of aesthetic education that accompanies theater acting.
