Stromland

Iquitos on the Amazon, 1984: Irina, along with her boyfriend Hilmar, is searching for her twin brother. Thomas was part of the film crew for Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski but has disappeared without a trace after the completion of filming "Fitzcarraldo." The two travel along the great rivers into the rainforest of the Amazon basin and deep into the abysses of human hopes and desires. "Stromland" tells on multiple levels about the missing and the search for the right life, for untouched places, and new truths. The novel spans three centuries during which emigrants and adventurers have left their marks, intertwining locations, individuals, and family stories over time into a tight network in which all the characters are ensnared.
