Don't turn your back on your past. Liv Jensen has a new case on her desk: An Iranian-Danish man was found with his throat slit on the island of Vorsø. There is no trace of his two teenage children, who were camping with him there. If they have seen the perpetrator, they are in grave danger. However, Liv's investigations initially lead her in an entirely unexpected direction: She comes across a young refugee and a crime that was committed 30 years ago in the Sandholm asylum center and remains unsolved to this day. What Liv doesn't realize is that Shirin, the daughter of the murdered man, is very close by. She has found refuge with Nima Ansari, a family friend who fled Iran many years ago and is now Liv's neighbor.
