This book deals with the development and characterization of retard tablets for a novel drug, Pinaverium, using various polymers. To facilitate the pH-independent release of the active ingredient Pinaverium, pH-modifying agents (buffer substances) were employed. Colon-targeted tablets were produced in two steps. First, core tablets were manufactured, and then the tablets were coated with pH-dependent polymers. Eudragit RLPO and S100 were used as enteric coating polymers. The pre-compression mixture of all formulations underwent various flow property tests, and each of the formulations passed these tests. The tablets were coated with polymers, and the coated tablets were subjected to various evaluation techniques. All tablets passed the tests.
