Sixteen chapters of taxonomically grouped fungi provide an overview of the classification of more than 3,000 mushroom species from Central Europe. The groups of fungi with tubes, gills, spines, and ridges, as well as morels, cup fungi, clubs, earthstars, truffles, and similar types, are illustrated with drawings of typical species. Identification is carried out step by step based on easily assessable characteristics. If identification cannot proceed with the naked eye, criteria from microscopy or indications of chemical reactions are provided. Once a species is identified, a precise description follows, along with an image for all common and frequently encountered species. Using this comprehensive work enhances knowledge of criteria and structures, transforming beginners into advanced mycologists.
