Product details

'Drawings' is dedicated for the first time exclusively to the drawings of the painter Tobias Pils (born 1971 in Linz, lives and works in Vienna). His graphic forms - the lines, shapes, and even the spaces in between - constantly change direction. Their ambiguity creates uncertainty in their interpretation. Pils should feel tormented by the indeterminacy of his visual language, yet this state of existential tension brings him an absurd pleasure. He does not conceive his works with a clear goal in mind but rather allows himself to fall into them. He - his art - remains open to everything that happens during the creative process. Overall, Pils' drawings navigate the diffuse boundary between order and disorder, as if they emerged in recognition of a disordered present (the life we lead) from an ordered past (the life we have constructed for ourselves).
