Product details

Created in 1874 in the USA by physician Andrew Taylor Still, osteopathy is based on manual techniques aimed at preserving or restoring the mobility of various structures in the body. As a preventive and curative therapeutic method, it is founded on the idea that any loss of natural mobility of our organs in relation to one another occurs at the level of muscles, tendons, viscera, bones, or joints, leading to dysfunctions. Osteopathy has a history and legal status that varies greatly from country to country. This book is well received in France and Belgium and is essential for finally allowing osteopathy to gain recognition. In some countries, for example, patients regularly consult their osteopath as they would their family doctor or primary care specialist. Training in osteopathy is long and demanding, but it also provides a genuine complementary alternative to allopathy. Traditional medicine has evolved significantly over the past century and is rich in investigative techniques and medications that can be very effective. However, the sense of touch is often lost, and the uncertainty of diagnosis can sometimes be lacking. In this regard, osteopathy can fill a gap left by traditional treatments and offer patients a therapy aimed at enabling the body to recover itself by addressing the root causes of dysfunction.
