Within educational research, Pierre Bourdieu remains one of the central references. Not only does the engagement with his analyses of the entanglements of the education system in the production and reproduction of social inequality persist, but his research practice also continually provokes discussion. The close connection between empirical research and theoretical work is currently being intensely debated and is particularly being advanced by practical-theoretical approaches. Against this backdrop, the book offers contributions that strive for the development of a power-critical, interdisciplinary educational research. At the center of this is Bourdieu's radical critique of existing educational situations, which is often overlooked in recent receptions.
